This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.A component with a 2000 mm waterproof rating is therefore resistant to the pressure exerted by a 2000 mm column of water (which roughly corresponds to a 2-hour downpour). Waterproofing is expressed in schmerbers (for example: 2,000 schmerbers). #### Component breathability To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric / 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric / RET > 20 = little or no breathability. #### Practical details Can be packed away in the pocket. Ageing test: repeated washing must not alter the fabric's original properties, including its shape, thickness or appearance. #### Care 1/ Machine wash (30 to 40°C): close rip-tap fastenings, gentle detergent .Wash jackets and trousers inside out.
