Features
Cleaner, Fresher, Faster
Welcome to AtomOS 11, a brand-new operating system designed exclusively for the new Ninja and Ninja Ultra. Not only does it boast a visually stunning interface, but it also introduces a range of exciting new features. We've enhanced the visibility of tools and improved icons for clearer selections, ensuring a user-friendly, logical, and professional experience. AtomOS 11 unlocks the Ninja's full capabilities with optimized memory management for increased responsiveness, and it brings a wealth of new features to elevate your creative workflow.
Colourised Exposure
A robust new feature within AtomOS 11 introduces industry-recognized EL Zone and ARRI colorized exposure display as selectable alternatives to Atomos false color. This enables Atomos monitors to consistently showcase colorized exposure in harmony with multiple monitors throughout the production process. EL Zone caters to camera operators by visualizing exposure in stops, providing an accurate representation of the camera's genuine scene-referred dynamic range. This is invaluable for assessing exposure in both HDR and SDR production scenarios, making it the premier method for monitoring colorized exposure and an industry-standard practice.
Record Assist
Set a time for your recording to start. It's ideal for covering pre-arranged events when you need to be somewhere else. If you have several Ninjas you can even record in multiple locations simultaneously. It's also a safer way to cover dangerous locations without risk to you and your colleagues. Finally, it's perfect for wildlife shooting. Want to capture the action by the riverbank at sunset? Just dial-in the time and come back later.
Multiple Codecs
The new Ninja line includes the following codecs free of charge, giving you more options to choose the ideal codec for your projects.
- Apple ProRes
- Apple ProRes RAW
- H.265
- DNx (QuickTime)
- DNx (MXF)* coming later in 2023
The Apple ProRes codec is pre-activated to use out of the box, so you can start shooting immediately. To activate the H.265 and DNx codecs, visit my.atomos.com to register your product, then follow the simple online instructions to activate these codecs for free using an activation token system.
To activate the Apple ProRes RAW codec you need to go to the my.atomos.com portal. There is a small additional step to get the correct activation token and access the codec for free. You simply need to plug in your compatible RAW camera to complete the process. You only need to do this once to unlock this super-flexible and unique codec in perpetuity.
Atomos - The Company
Atomos is a global software and hardware technology company that creates, develops and commercialises ground-breaking products for the rapidly growing content creation market. The business was founded in 2010 when it created the world's first video monitor-recorder. That monitor-recorder converged separate existing and more expensive products and allowed users to transform the quality of the editing and production output of their video camera for a fraction of the cost than had previously been the case. Since that day Atomos, working alongside an ever-expanding ecosystem of key technology providers that include Apple, Adobe, Sony, Canon, JVC Kenwood, Nikon, FUJIFILM and Panasonic, has been part of the rapid 'democratisation' and expansion of high-quality and accessible video content creation.
