The Stegouros was formally described in 2021 and lived in southern Chile approximately 75 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period. It belonged to the ankylosaur family, a group of armored herbivorous dinosaurs, and grew up to two meters long. The Stegouros had a large, heavy tail that resembled a macuahuitl, a club used by Aztec warriors. This deluxe model has been positioned to look like the Stegouros is about to whip its tail weapon in defense against a looming predator.
